Abstract
The present study was conducted to evaluate the performance of experimental rats, autoclaved, irradiated and untreated in S. D rats. Eleven male and female rats of 4 weeks of age were assigned for each group. For the experiment, the feed was treated at 121¡É for 20 mins for autoclaved treatment and treated at 2.5 Mrad of Co60 for irradiated treatment.
The items of observation were body weigh changes, fertilities, postnatal development of fetuses, hematological values and biochemical values. Also the hardness of pellet was measured before and after the treatment.
The results are summarized as follows:
1. In body weight changes, the rats fed with autoclaved diet were significantly decreased khan rats fed with the others
2. Rats fed with autoclaved diet showed a tendancy to decrease the Mean No. of Li-e fetuses, Copulation rate and Pregnancy rate than other diets.
3. In hematology, rats fed with autoclaved diet showed significant decrease in RBC, Hb but increase in MCV and MCHC. In blood biochemistry, rats fed with autoclaved diet showed significant increase in ALP, T-CHO, A/G ratio but significant decrease in BUN T-P.
4. In the hardness of pellet, untreated diet was 12.74§¸/§², autoclaved diet was 14.42§¸/§² and irradiated was 11.95§¸/§².
